Christopher is currently living in "the outskirts of Los Angeles"
Yes, he has a website : www.christophernyerges.com
I tried to take a class from him back in the 90's, but he refused to teach me and 10 friends unless we had purchased and read one of his books. We purchased a book, read it, Did not bother to continue to pursue a class after that.
I have seen a few of his shows on TV.
I know he is good, but I didn't like the attitude! He may be different now. Back then, Survival Techniques were not as big as they are now,and he may have had "other things' that were more important. The book we received, had been printed and bound and printed "at home " by Christopher ( about 40 pages of copy paper and clear plastic presentation sleeve from a stationary store - $40.00 )

I just wanted to share one of my experiences at a small New Mexico state park, Sugarite (way up north). The ranger had a talk and demo of various edibles. She made us stinging nettle (something), took the hairy part of cat o' nine tails and made pancakes out of it, some delicious soup with sage, and let us sample all sorts of other seeds and grasses she'd gathered that day. It was a wonderful experience. She is who I want to be when I grow up!

And have you taken a class from him? If so, how was it?

The very best wild edible teacher I know of is Karen Sherwood, who teaches at Earthwalk Northwest in Washington state. (http://www.earthwalknorthwest.com/) She has an incredible amount of knowledge and is one of the leading ethnobotanists in the US. She also teaches related subjects, such as basketry, soap making, and the use of plants for medicinal purposes.

Has anyone here ever made elderberry or dandelion wine?

Part of the trick in knowing your wild edibles is, as Jim indicated, in knowing what is best to eat in what season. For example, wild grapes are an autumn food. (Poisonous lookalike: moonseed)
Rose hips ripen in autumn and can be dried and rehydrated later. No poisonous lookalikes. Can be eaten straight or used in tea.
I'm going to start a discussion for each season where we can discuss edibles for that season, how to prepare them, poisonous lookalikes, and so on.
